What is Halal?
Halal is an Arabic word for ‘permissible’ or ‘lawful’. In other words, it is permissible for food consumption
Can I apply halal cert for food, but still sell alcohol in the same establishment?
No, because Muslims are not allowed to consume foods or beverages that are Haram, or forbidden.
Deliberately eating or drinking them is a great sin. Unless it is an exceptional and an extreme case where no other halal food or drink is available; or the person is in danger due to extreme hunger or for medicinal purposes.
I have muslim partners, do I still need halal certification?
Yes, unless it is a Muslim Owned outlet.
Our food is no pork, no lard, will our process be faster?
No, the whole process estimated duration is 2-3 months.
Can I pay more to expedite the Halal Certificate?
No, but MUIS do cater normal & express application fee.
For normal application it will be attended to 14 working days from the payment while express application it will be attended to within 7 working days from the payment.
After applying for Halal Cert this year, how long will the certificate last until I need to renew?
Each Halal certificate will be valid for 1 year since the issuance date.
Should you engage our service, we will contact you 3 months prior to your certificate expiry to remind and prepare your establishment for renewal. This is to ensure that you will get your new Halal cert on time.
How long does it take to get certified?
For new application, it ranges between 2.5 months to 3 months. For renewal it will take around 2- 2.5 months.
Can a company use a Halal logo on their product without being halal certified?
If you do not possess a valid Halal cert issued by MUIS, you are not allowed to use their Halal logo as this might lead to an offence under Section 88A(5) of AMLA (Administration Of Muslim Law Act).
